Tesla Model S and Lexus IS F Duke it Out on the Drag Strip

Drag races are fun, obviously. And our friends at Bay Area Racing have no shortage of great drag racing videos, which makes for an easy way to waste a few minutes on a Saturday morning. That being sad, this one is definitely worth watching all the way through. A Tesla and a Lexus—two brands you’d never think of on a drag strip more than ten years ago, have taken to the track to see which sedan will be victorious in the half mile. The IS F, putting to use a brutal 416-horsepower V8, and the Model S, with a 382-horsepower electric motor in this trim. So who comes out on top? RELATED: See Photos of the 2015 Tesla Model S P85D
“There’s not replacement for displacement,” the old saying goes. The 5.0-liter V8 under the hood of the IS F just pulls away from the Tesla down the stretch. Seeing as this was a base Model S 70D, it’s a pretty fair race. This would be a much different story with a P90D in its place. RELATED: See Photos of the 2013 Lexus IS F
