Lamborghini Huracan Edges Out Viper ACR, But Jut Barely
Videos from Shift Sector 2016 keep on rolling in courtesy of Bay Area Racing's YouTube channel, and this one has to be one of the best so far. It's America vs Italy, deep dish vs napoletana, Sophia Loren vs Marilyn Monroe. Here we're treated to the unusual head to head showdown between a Lamborghini Huracan and a Dodge Viper ACR. Most folks would say that the combination of a lightning fast dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel-drive would give the Huracan a significant advantage over the manual gearbox, rear-wheel-drive Viper. But as you'll see in this video, most folks would be wrong. RELATED: The 2016 Dodge Viper ACR is a 645-Horsepwer Monster Machine
The Viper gets a solid jump on the Huracan at the launch, but putting all 645 horsepower down through the rear wheels results in a lengthy first gear burnout, allowing the Huracan to take the lead. The driver of the Viper nails two more shifts, which keeps the Huracan close, but then it sounds like he missed 5th gear and shifted up to 6th.
This ends any chance of beating the lighter Huracan to the finish line, though it's still very close. Almost seems as if the Huracan driver lifted off the pedal before crossing the line, but it all happens so fast that it's hard to tell. Regardless of who won, both cars hit 160 mph, and both looks damn good doing it.
