Roush Turns the 2016 Ford F-150 Up to 600HP
You can’t really fault the new Ford F-150 for being short on power. The Blue Oval packs its full-size F-150 lineup with everything from a 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6, making an impressive 325 ponies, all the way up to a big 385 hp 5.0-liter V8. Should you want more, though—and can’t wait for the twin-turbo 2017 Ford Raptor—well, Roush Performance has just the thing. Meet the 2016 Roush F-150 SC. Whereas the standard 5.0-liter V8 taps out at just 385 ponies, Roush’s Phase 1 supercharger system boosts this variant up to a burly 600 horsepower and 557 lb.-ft. of torque. That colossal jump in power, combined with the F-150’s new lightweight aluminum body, ought to make these quite the speed machines. RELATED: This Race-Prepped '66 Ford GT40 is Stunningly Gorgeous
Roush says its 2.3-liter TVS supercharger is at the heart of the power gains, sucking in more air and fuel to create an even bigger bang. Amazingly, for those who want even more ‘bang’, a Phase 2 supercharger will arrive later on increasing output to 650 hp and 600 lb.-ft. of torque. Those furious horses still head to the ground via all four wheels, and make their presence known through a new side-pipe exhaust.
These Ford F-150s get a bit of a makeover too. The firm adds an attention-grabbing “ROUSH” grille, bumper cover, bulging fender flares, plus new windshield, tailgate, and hood graphics. A set of slick 20-inch Roush wheels come wrapped in high-performance Mickey Thompson Baja ATZP3 tires. Pictured here in Blue Flame Metallic paint, it’s one very eye-catching ride.

Last but certainly not least, Roush plants its high-powered F-150 on 2.0 Fox performance coilover shocks. You might not want to ‘baja’ these pickups like their Raptor cousins, but a weekend in the wild sounds like ample off-road exercise.
The cost? The Roush supercharged treatment adds $22,600 to the price of a V8-equipped Ford F-150, which is a fairly sizable add-on. Then again, it’s a small price to pay for the quickest pickup in the neighborhood.
