McLaren 650S Crashed 10 Minutes After Being Purchased
This is not another casualty from the Gumball 3000, though, you'd be forgiven for thinking that. No, this is just an instance of someone with enough money to buy a McLaren, but not enough intelligence to go longer than TEN MINUTES without crashing it. These photos were pulled from a creepily narrated video posted on YouTube, and according to my favorite U.K. newspaper The Telegraph, "Neighbours reported seeing the man celebrating with a bottle of champagne as the new car arrived at his house" which is understandable, but inadvisable if you're going to go for a drive in any vehicle, let alone a supercar. The story goes on to say that Essex police are still looking for witnesses to the event, as they have yet to sort out who was driving the car at the time of the accident. Sounds like there might be more to the story than a wealthy dolt drinking champagne and deciding to play chicken with a tree. But we'll just have to wait and see what details come to light in the coming weeks. RELATED: See Photos Of The McLaren 675LT
In the meantime, this is a good reminder that you should pay attention to the task at hand when you're behind the wheel, which is driving, nothing else. I wouldn't be surprised if it came to light that the driver was Snapchatting himself looking super baller behind the wheel of his new car, or was distracted in some other way.
While the 650s does 0-100 in 5.7 seconds, it's also packed with a full suite of modern safety systems that keep the car quite buttoned down for street use.
