Got $2.7 Million to Blow? Hennessey is Selling its Drag Strip
Many aftermarket tuners and performance car shops can only dream of having their own personal drag strip. From a convenience and a research-and-development standpoint, it makes perfect sense. One tuner actually does, however—Texas-based outfit Hennessey Performance—purveyors of 1,000 hp Dodge Hellcats, 750 hp Camaros, and the Venom GT Spyder (recently crowned the world’s fastest convertible). Interestingly, Hennessey Performance is looking to offload its private dragstrip and proving grounds, known as Lonestar Motorsports Park, but for prospective buyers it won’t come cheaply. Hennessey listed the 55-acre property in an online classified ad for $2.7 million. RELATED: Watch the Hennessey Venom GT Spyder Hit 265 MPH
For what it’s worth, the facility is said to come fully equipped to handle regular events. Located on Interstate 10 in Sealy, Texas (about 38 miles outside of Houston), the Lonestar Motorsports Park includes an IHRA-sanctioned 1/4 mile drag strip, air-conditioned concession stands, grand stands with seating for 800, plus staging lanes, lights, timing equipment, a control tower, and a fuel barn.
Hennessey notes the track is operational and currently running monthly events. It’s also next to the Hennessey Performance shop and engineering facility, which however is not for sale.
The site has been popularized in Hennessey Performance's YouTube videos, which regularly feature the company's tuned vehicles being put through their paces down the Lonestar drag strip and around its ancillary roads, usually at quite high speeds.

Also available is an additional 70 acres next to the property, which Hennessey says could be expanded into a road racing circuit, however that land asks an undisclosed amount.
So why sell now? Owner John Hennessey tells Black Flag, it’s just that time. “We’ve owned it about a dozen years and it’s worth more now.”
