Watch A Real Hoverboard Take to the Air
This hoverboard isn't a marketing stunt. It wasn't created by Lexus. It's the real deal, and you can watch it fly impossibly high in this video of a recent test flight. It comes from Zapata racing, which already makes those flyboards that jet you over the water with huge hoses attached. Now, the hoses are gone and the Flyboard Air is completely free to fly out over the water. It's not just skimming the surface, either. This hoverboard is so high it's actually frightening to watch (if you're afraid of heights). RELATED:See Images of the ArcaBoard Hoverboard Car
They're light on details about exactly how it works, and you can't see how it takes off or lands, but it's clearly flying above the water with nothing to tether it to the ground. They claim it can fly for 10 minutes up to a height of 10,000 feet. Cue the vertigo.
According to The Verge, to make it more interesting, they've given the thing plenty of power so that it can hit 93 miles per hour. How does that even work if you have to land all of a sudden? Let's wait and see if they manage to take it from death-defying test flight to real product.
