Watch a Dodge Challenger Hellcat Set a New World Speed Record...On Ice
The Dodge Challenger Hellcat has a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that produces a mind-numbing 707 horsepower. But you already knew that. That being said, a few brave souls decided to take the Challenger Hellcat out on the ice to see how fast they could go—and if they could set a new world record. It all happened at Arsunda Speed Weekend in Sweden. They didn't do anything overly special to prep the car for the attempt, aside from studding the tires and slapping on some stickers. The Challenger lets loose with all 707 horsepower and screams down the ice track leaving a snowy trail in its wake. It hits a top speed of 170.6 mph, which sets a new world record. Its average speed over the .62-mile track comes in at 162 mph.
The team not only set new records, it posted a great finish for the weekend. They finished first in class, which was something they didn't expect. It was a great weekend for this group of racers and showed the Hellcat is so fast, even a stock model can set a record on the ice.
