IHOP Parking Lot Sinkhole Eats Cars For Breakfast
There's nothing quite like heading to IHOP to eat your own weight in pancakes covered with all that sickly sweet syrup. Once your meal is over, you expect to head out to your car and drive away, but things didn't go as planned for these diners. Instead, a parking lot sinkhole decided to swallow their cars for its own snack.
According to BangShift, the incident happened at an IHOP in Meridian, Mississippi. The sinkhole made a snack of at least 14 vehicles that sank down into the dirt. At least it didn't swallow priceless Corvettes.
The newly-opened restaurant had a drainage pipe running through its parking lot and that's where the sinkhole decided to open up and do its damage. The sinkhole runs 50 feet wide, 20 feet deep, and 600 feet long and is unusual for the area. The region had been experiencing heavy rain with ten inches falling in the last two weeks, so it's not a big surprise that there are issues with soil stability. No word on the exact cause of the sinkhole or when they'll be removing the cars it had for breakfast.
