Rolls-Royce Phantom, Bentley Mulsanne Envisioned as Seductive Wagons
The current Rolls-Royce lineup is a case study in lavish motoring. From the cornerstone Phantom, to the stunning Drophead Coupe, to new entries like the Wraith and Dawn—this is an automaker that understands how to cater to the ultra-wealthy. Bentley too, has a portfolio of striking luxury vehicles. So would a high-end wagon be a wise addition to either lineup? Rain Prisk Designs is an automotive designer with a penchant for transforming popular sports cars into more utilitarian vehicles by throwing either a wagon roof or pickup bed on the back. He has now turned his attention to two iconic British brands that are now owned by German automakers (Rolls is owned by BMW, and Bentley owned by VW Group). The first is a shooting-brake version of the Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe (top image). The Phantom Shooting Brake harkens back to a long history of Rolls-Royce shooting brakes, designed to give their wealthy owners the added rear space to place hunting equipment. The next car is a wagon version of some Bentley vehicle (above image). It may well be a variation on the Mulsanne, but with a fresh take on the large circular Bentley headlights, replaced with slimmer LED units.
With the way luxury automakers have been expanding their lineups, including Jaguar and Bentley SUVs and a Jag wagon, we’d welcome these additions to the Bentley and Rolls lineup. Now if we could only get a Rolls-Royce pickup…
