Bentley’s SUV is Completely Sold Out—And the Queen Gets the First One
Bentley just unveiled its first ever SUV, the Bentayga, at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Not only is it a serious departure from the concept we saw last year, but it’s also the fastest SUV currently on the market, with 600 horsepower, a top speed of 187 mph, and a 0-60 mph of just 4.0 seconds. But if you're looking to get your hands on one, don't hold your breath. According to a report from Autocar, Bentley has already sold out of each and every one of its $229,100 (£160,200) luxury SUV. Production is slated somewhere between 3,000 to 4,500 units per year. But what is most notable is who is slated to be the first to take delivery of their Bentley SUV. With great power comes great responsibility—so you would assume the very first Bentley Bentayga will find a home with a former racing driver, or a high-performance enthusiast. Nope, it’s actually going to 89-year-old Queen Elizabeth of England. RELATED: See More of the New Bentley Bentayga SUV
According to Bloomberg, Queen Elizabeth will be the very first owner of the all-new Bentley SUV. It will be used to chauffeur her around her estate in Scotland. Don’t worry, she likely won’t be spending too much time behind the wheel, considering it will be at the hands of her driver for the most part.
Taking into account Elizabeth’s history with Bentley and the marque’s overall prestige, it’s an understandable purchase. Not only is the new Bentayga fast, but it’s also luxurious. Meaning even at high speeds, the Queen of England will be able to enjoy her estate in style and comfort.
For all the "common folk" looking to order a Bentayga themselves, you won't be able to get one until after 2017.
