New Hyundai NFL TV Spot Puts the Fence in “Defense"

Earlier this summer, Hyundai announced it had struck a four-year deal with the National Football League to become the official automotive sponsor of the NFL, a title previously held by General Motors since 2001. 

The deal allows Hyundai to now use NFL trademarks in certain marketing channels and advertising, and during Thursday night’s season opener between the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Hyundai Motor America rolled out its first NFL-themed TV ad. The takeaway? Hyundai is pretty passionate about the NFL…as are Arizona Cardinals fans. Take a look at the humorous spot, below, featuring the 2016 Hyundai Tucson

Need to get on the Jumbotron? Just bring the fence. A 30-second ad featuring the 2016 Sonata and a very dedicated Houston Texans fan is slated to air on September 24, during the Washington Redskins and New York Giants game. On Thursday, the company sponsored a free kickoff concert in San Francisco, home of Super Bowl 50, which featured performances from Ellie Goulding and Train. The brand is using its #BecauseFootball hashtag on social media to tie in its involvement with the NFL, reminiscent of Hyundai’s use of #BecauseFutbol during the 2014 FIFA World Cup TV coverage. Sister brand Kia is an official sponsor of NBA basketball.
