Christian Bale Will Play Enzo Ferrari in Upcoming Film
Christian Bale is through playing Batman, which means no more driving around in the Batmobile. It's a small loss, because he's just signed on to play Enzo Ferrari in an upcoming film by director Michael Mann which has the potential to put him behind the wheel of even more amazing cars. The film has been a project of Mann's for over 15 years and once involved a partnership with Syndey Pollack.
The movie is a screen adaptation of the 1991 book, Enzo Ferrari: The Man, The Cars, The Races, The Machine, which details the rise of Enzo Ferrari's career and takes place in 1957. According to Deadline, Mann has spent considerable time and energy developing this film and he will be shopping it to potential investors at upcoming film festivals in Toronto, Telluride, and Venice.
This isn't the first collaboration between Bale and Mann. The pair worked together on 2009's Public Enemies. Mann's prior work includes The Last Of The Mohicans, The Insider, Collateral, and this year's disappointing Blackhat. Still, with Mann's impressive history, the Ferrari film could be something amazing. Bale has signed on to play Enzo but the rest of the cast is still being settled. The Batmobile may be gone, but Bale still has a change at driving some some fine cars on the big screen as Enzo.
