This Lexus Measures Your Heartbeat, and Displays It on the Side
The Lexus RC F is the kind of car that can really get your heart racing. This one not only makes your heart beat faster, but it measures that heartbeat and shows you in real time, through world-first biometric technology. The Lexus "heartbeat car" is a collaboration between Tricky Jigsaw, the creative technology divison of M&C Saatchi Australia, and Lexus Australia. The goal was to connect the driver to the car to see the emotional affect driving can have on people. RELATED: See images of the 2015 Vossen Lexus RC F
It took six months to complete the project as M&C Saatchi innovation director Ben Cooper and his team worked on a closed track in Southern New Wales. They started by connecting the driver to the car wirelessly to monitor his heartbeat. A custom Arduino control board then created a visual representation of that heartbeat through electro-luminescent paint.
The paint, created by Lumilor, appears to have a standard silver finish when the glowing heartbeat system isn't operational. According to Mashable, it's all powered by a 13-volt auxiliary battery, which is charged by the car when the engine is turned on.
