Ever Wanted to Thank Another Driver on the Road?
The road can be an intimidating place, but one Los Angeles upstart company is looking to put a smile back in the daily commute. Their product is the MotorMood, a light-up smiley face for the car that helps show other drivers that you appreciate their kindness. The LED smiley face operates via a sun visor-mounted remote control, and with the push of a button, it illuminates the face in one of three cheery colors–blue, pink, or green. Company founder Jesse Kramer came up with the idea after years of driving in Los Angeles, a city not exactly known for its calm or easy-going traffic. That idea has since grown into a functional prototype and the company currently seeks funding on Kickstarter to help it reach its $130,500 full-scale production goals. Currently, MotorMood has raised over $52,000 with the campaign scheduled to continue until July 30. RELATED: One Upstart Car Company is Challenging the Supercar Elite
According to MotorMood, the smiley face measures 4.8 inches in diameter and attaches to the inside of the rear window using small adhesive clips. It has been optimized for night driving, a time when a simple wave or thumbs up might not be noticed by other motorists.
Though not reconfigurable on the fly, the smiley face’s colors can be changed by removing the MotorMood’s outer ring, with more colors expected to become available at a later date. The company’s future plans also include adding additional face options to the MotorMood, including a flirtatious winking face.
Like the idea? Supporting MotorMood on Kickstarter will cost you just $19.
