Intensely Detailed Custom Ducati Leggero is Gorgeous
The Ducati Leggero is a series of custom motorcycles designed by Walt Siegl. They demonstrate what you can do with a Ducati 900SS if you've got the time and talent to turn them into something new. Siegl, who builds his bikes in a New Hampshire workshop, also races his bikes whenever he has the chance. This gives him the firsthand knowledge he needs to build his performance motorcycles. He first started working on the Leggero series several years ago. Although they're based on the Ducati 900SS, a large portion of each bike has been replaced with custom-built parts. Many of which are a steel alloy with chromium and molybdenum that adds strength while shaving weight. RELATED: See a Custom Ducati Cafe Racer
This example above is the Leggero BC, which is named for the location of the client who ordered the bike. Each build is tailored to whoever buys it so Siegl gets an incredible amount of detail about the new owner before work starts. He knows not just things you'd expect like height, weight, and riding style, but even color preferences and details like the owner's favorite watch.
According to Silodrome, since this bike was destined for the track it was given a longer aluminum swing arm and a Showa monoshock with Showa forks up front and Brembo brakes front and rear. All bodywork was made in house from Kevlar composite and a Motogadget tachometer/speedometer replaced the original.
