AMX, Barracuda, Charger – the early 1970s were a golden age for the muscle car. Some of the most collectable cars you can find today come from that time. Although the '70s did indeed usher in some of the best and boldest vehicles in the class, let's talk about the often overlooked muscle cars of the 1980s for a minute.
With big shoes to fill, the '80s sort of floundered in the muscle car department. Efficiency, lightness, and handing were at the forefront of engineering and design thanks to the introduction of sporty Japanese coupes like the Toyota Supra and Mazda RX-7. Still, a few muscle cars survived the '80s and lived to tell the tale.
