Ferrari Spaceship Gives us a Glimpse of the Future

Ferrari has built some stunning cars over the years, but their design director is thinking about what the company may build in the very distant future. Instead of a four-wheeled vehicle designed for the road, Flavio Manzoni imagined a sleek spaceship. It started off as something he made just for fun. The spaceship was nothing more than a series of rough sketches born of his childhood fascination with UFOs. He grew up in a 6-story building with a terrace and thought it would make a good landing spot for visitors from another world. The front takes a cue from the F1-derived spoiler that is currently seen on the LaFerrari and FXX K which also lends its floating rear spoiler. The gap between the top and bottom shells gets red trim, and the wings mimic the radiator openings found on supercars. According to FormTrends, his inspiration only partly came from Ferrari. Manzoni was also inspired by classic science fiction like 2001: A Space Odyssey, Blade Runner, and even the old Flash Gordon series which was a favorite. It was purely a what-if exercise, but you never know. Maybe Ferrari will pull out these dusty, old designs in the distant future and build this spaceship for real.
