Watch This Monstrous C7 Corvette Make a 4.11 Second Pass
To the purist in all of us, it’s hard to imagine tearing into a brand new car – especially a C7 Corvette – stripping away all its shiny new bits, and overhauling it into a purpose-built racer. No road trips for this one. Then again, when the level of performance achieved is this high… exceptions must be made. This 2014 Corvette Stingray is one such exception. Chuck Ulsch and Gil Mobley recently showed up to the Cecil County Dragway in Maryland to give their fully-built C7 drag car a few shakedown and test runs. For only having three or four passes with this setup, we’d say their Outlaw 10.5 Corvette is doing quite well for itself. Take a look. RELATED: See Photos of the 750-Horsepower Chevrolet Corvette Z06

The C7 made a blisteringly quick 4.11 second eighth-of-a-mile pass at 188 mph, followed by slower runs at 4.82 seconds and 4.27 seconds as the tail end got a bit squirrelly. That onslaught of acceleration comes courtesy of a big screw-type supercharger, helping to generate a respectable 3,500 horsepower at the motor. It shows.
Impressively, this Corvette doesn’t just wear some aftermarket fiberglass body. Rather, every body panel on the car – aside from its molded one-piece front end – is original factory. Given its early show of speed, this C7 ought to get quite a bit quicker too.
