Is Cadillac Working on an Even Faster ATS-V?
With the relatively recent release of the new Cadillac ATS-V (read only a week since everyone’s been able to talk about it), the company is supposedly hard at work on creating an even better version. While the current ATS-V is no slouch at 464 horsepower, it just isn’t enough for Cadillac, apparently. We’ve learned that if rumors prove true, Cadillac will make a meaner ATS-V, something that would likely take the fight directly to the doorstep of Mercedes’ AMG Black department, and boast somewhere in the range of 550 horsepower. This news comes from Car & Driver, who spoke directly with David Leone, Cadillac’s chief engineer. Since there’s a fairly big power gap between the halo car that is the CTS-V and the lighter, nimbler, but less powerful ATS-V, Cadillac might have some plans for a car that slots between those two.
“We might have something down the road that is a little bit more aggressive,” stated Leone. While he didn’t go into more details other than that, there’s definitely room on the table for a bump in power.

Cadillac has already shown that the ATS-V’s 3.6L twin-turbo V6 is very much under-stressed by the company’s 600 horsepower ATS-V.R racecar, which uses the same engine. Nevertheless, it is intriguing wondering what Cadillac has up its sleeves that will stick it to the Germans.
Will it be just a bump in horsepower, or will the “something more aggressive” be in the same vein as the Camaro 1LE (i.e. purely handling)? Only time will tell, although, we hope to see a “Black Series” ATS-V sooner rather than later.
