Bugatti Veyron Successor Will Do 0-60 MPH in 2 Seconds, Allegedly
In a world full of outrageous performance cars, the Bugatti Veyron was simply more than the most. More powerful that almost anything else, officially faster than everything else. It boggles the mind to think how anything could be made to offer the nth degree of performance, again. But the ‘Chiron’ is coming, and fast. The UK’s CAR Magazine appears to have gleaned quite a few pertinent details from the Chiron’s build sheet, or at least its wish list, and they’re quite stunning. If these ring true, the Bugatti Chiron will wallop 1,500 horsepower, 1,106 lb-ft of torque, a 288 mph top speed, and stomp the zero to 60 mph sprint in 2.0 seconds. What a machine. We’ll have to wait to see if those hard figures translate into the real world, but we won’t need to wait long. CAR says the Chiron – named after famed Bugatti racer Louis Chiron – will arrive in 2016, and as previously rumored, will retain the W16 engine of its Veyron predecessor. Allegedly a W14 engine was talked over, but later the plan was scrapped.
The Chiron was said to have been slated for a 2015 reveal date – indeed, all Veyrons have been sold off – but the critical eye of recently retired VW chairman Ferdinand Piech saw that the project be sent back for revisions. Now, an alleged 92 percent of its bits and pieces are new or heavily modified from the Veyron.

Bugatti’s new hypercar will undoubtedly be just as, if not more luxurious than the Veyron, but also smarter. Cylinder deactivation, direct injection, and electronically spurred turbochargers are all said to be at work in the Chiron, effectively helping Bugatti rustle-up a targeted 14 mpg.
The official word has yet to drop on the Chiron, but given the impact of the Veyron at its launch, expect the new car to be equally monumental.
