'Furious 8' is Coming Whether We Want it or Not

In the wake of Fast and the Furious 7 film smashing the box office it has made a billion dollars since it premiered worldwide three weeks ago. It is also the 7th highest grossing film of all time… so far. Universal Pictures would be shortsighted not to continue on capitalizing on the success of the franchise. That’s why, speaking at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Vin Diesel came out onto the stage to announce that Furious 8 is happening, and that the film will open April 14, 2017. With the recent passing of one of the film’s stars, Paul Walker, many believed that the team would throw in the keys to the franchise and let it just fade away slowly. However, with the massive success of the 7th film and how the film ended Paul’s character, there seems to be room for the studio to continue producing films. RELATED: Check Out the Off-Road Dodge Charger from Furious 7   While not the most serious of films, the Fast and the Furious franchise has meant a lot to a lot of people and hopefully it continues to be just a goofy good time at the movies. Without Paul Walker to aid in spearheading the upcoming project, though, the tone of the film will definitely have to be something new.
