Audi Allroad Concept is a 725HP, 98 MPG Look into the Future

Most cars that have massive power figures are not particularly efficient. Further, most cars that offer lots of MPGs aren't terribly powerful. Audi would beg to differ, however.  Meet the Audi Prologue Allroad, Audi's third' concept car of the 'Prologue' series and by far its most radical. It rides high on an off-road suspension, fits quattro all-wheel-drive and delivers an aforementioned 725 horsepower and 98 miles per gallon. You can't go out and buy one today – it will unveil this week at the Shanghai auto show – but expect to find a descendent in dealerships in the not-so-distant future. Supplied by a bank of lithium-ion batteries, the hybridized Audi will not only return an alleged 98 mpg, but provides 33 miles of electric-only motoring. Prod the go-pedal though and 664 lb-ft of torque will push you back in your seat. And what nice seats they are. The Prologue comes dressed to the nines with swaths of leather on the seats, instrument, and center console, met with ash and aluminum trim. Audi has outfitted its latest infotainment suite into the car, featuring the 'virtual cockpit' screen behind the steering wheel and a wide passenger screen extending across the dashboard. A simple flick of the passenger's hand can send pertinent info over to the driver's screen. RELATED: Check out the all-new, 2016 Audi R8 V10 In the rear, it's much the same story. Backseat passengers are treated to individual seats and receive organic LED tablets to fiddle with. Step into the car and the digital 'butler' can identify you based on your smartphone and can even suggest music. Amazing on its own, the real news is the Prologue's striking stance and design. The 16 foot long Audi rides three inches higher than its Prologue predecessor, jacked up atop quattro all-wheel-drive and all-wheel-steering systems. Its proportions are commanding to say the least, leading off with an aggressive flat grille and searing laser headlights. When its descendent comes to market, expect it to be pricey, but given the trend and appetite for super luxe crossovers, expect it to be a hot seller.
