The Chevrolet Spark Z06 Doesn't Exist, But it Should

Great automotive marques make for great automotive rivalries, and amongst the makes that have called North America home... it doesn't get much better than Ford vs. Chevrolet. The pair trade punch for punch quite evenly across the range, but if you're looking for a teensy hot hatchback... the choice has been pretty clear. Fiesta ST Until now. The digital manipulators at X-Tomi Design have concocted a hardcore, track-ready Chevrolet Spark... and they've called it Z06. No, it doesn't exist, and given its low volume sales potential – it probably never will. But I doubt I'm the only one who thinks that it's every bit a stunner. X-Tomi Design plucked some of the Corvette Z06's finer details – front splitter, blacked-out wheels, hood and side vents – and massaged them onto the 2016 Chevrolet Spark. The transformation of grocery hauler into five-door hauler of derrière is surprisingly smooth, yet shouty in all the right hot hatch ways. It just needs a proper powerplant underneath the hood. For that, the new 2016 Spark may need some help. Its bigger brother, the Chevy Sonic, comes in RS guise with a turbocharged version of the Spark's 1.4-liter engine, rated at 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. It's not as much as the Fiesta ST's 197 rambunctious ponies, but where there's a will... there's more boost. Chevrolet fanatics of the internet... yay or nay on the Chevrolet Spark Z06?
