Watch a Giant 19-Foot RC Bomber Take to the Air

There are lots of people who have made a hobby out of building RC vehicles, but rarely are they as impressive as this RC bomber. It is modeled after an old B-36 and it has a 19-foot wingspan The B-36 was designed and built in 1949 with a total of 6 engines in a backward-facing design not often seen these days. Carl Bachhumber build his RC replica of the plane at a 1:12 scale which is a heck of a lot smaller than the original, but still huge. For perspective, it's longer than a Mercedes S-Class. The B-36 was built after WWII and was meant to be the plane capable of flying across the ocean for bombing runs and then all the way back home without refueling. It was huge, about 50% larger than the B-29 that would eventually bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This was intended to be a nuclear bomber even though it never dropped a bomb. It had a maximum payload of 330,000 pounds and could travel for up to 10,000 miles. It was also a bit on the pricey side. Each one cost $4.1 million.  Oh and there are some amazing RC jets you can actually get right on eBay.
