Listen to the Corvette Z06, Shelby GT500, and Hellcat Have a Rev-Off
Unless you have some preconceived allegiances to a specific car brand, which you very well may have, picking a winner out of today's V8 sports and muscle car crop is a tough ask. The high powered segments include stunners like the hardcore Camaro Z/28 and Challenger Hellcat, with styling, horsepower, torque rating, and even Nurburgring track times coming into play. But for the casual weekend driver, sometimes all that matters is a good, throaty exhaust note. With a prod of the right foot on the go-pedal, these three V8 muscle machines unleash a howl, and we want to know which one you like best. Today's vocalists are a 2015 Corvette Z06, a 2014 Ford Shelby GT500, and a 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. RELATED: Dodge is pumping out an extra 1,000 Hellcat orders

The Corvette, being the more agile and track-centric of the trio, also has one of the raciest engine barks, from its supercharged 6.2-liter V8. The Shelby's contribution is much more of a guttural bellow – not quite as loud as the other two, but raspy with a nice burble. In terms of decibels, the Hellcat might have the loudest exhaust shriek, then again if you forced 707 horsepowers into any confined stretch of tubing, they'd come charging out in a hurry.
Admittedly, if you're into cars like these – you're not going to be pinching pennies, however the best bang for you buck does come from the Shelby GT500, which retailed for only $55,110 last year. The GT500 is gone from the 2015 model lineup, but worry not, the Shelby comes back in GT350 form for 2016... and it's bringing with it a flat-plane crank V8. Rematch?
