You Can Buy Margaret Thatcher's Armored Bus

The President of the United States may have a fancy armored limousine, but Margaret Thatcher had her very own armored bus when she was British prime minister. And now it's up for sale. After an assassination attempt at a Brighton hotel, the bus was custom built to keep her and her cabinet safe should a similar attack ever happen again. The vehicle was made from Foden bus and Rolls-Royce parts and is capable of seating 36 people. It's completely armored with bulletproof glass, a 2-foot thick honey-combed anti-blast floor and even run flat tires. It can withstand bullets up to 7.62 mm, which is the kind of bullet that is fired from automatic rifles. Power comes from a 12-liter supercharged diesel engine from Rolls-Royce. Current owner Nick Mead says it can easily hit 80 MPH. He is selling the bus for about $38,000 but is open to offers. It's a little worse for wear cosmetically. He helpfully notes that there are, "One or two bullet holes on the outer alloy insulated skin."
