The German electric super saloon based on the Ioniq 5 N is on sale
It is called the Vanwall Vandervell, is designed in Germany and has up to 650 PS. Price from £107,000
After being unveiled in 2023, the Vanwall Vandervell is finally ready to hit the road. From January 2025, this electric hot hatch will be available to order at a 'base' price of €128,000 (approx. £107,000) excluding VAT.
If the brand name reminds you of anything, you're not wrong, as it shares its name with a historic Formula 1 racing team. But beware, the references to a bygone era end there: underneath the new compact car's retro guise lies an ultra-modern technical base, the same as that of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. Yes, that's right, the Korean 'super hot hatch' that has driven enthusiasts around the world crazy.
Inspired by the past but with modern lines
Starting with the exterior as always, the Vanwall Vandervell seems to come from another era. Square lines, slim headlights and a very aggressive, boxy look. To create it, the brand focused on a design that evokes Vanwall's glorious racing past, without sacrificing a few modern touches.
Speaking of the latter, there is no shortage of huge alloy wheels (up to 22 inches), a larger and lighter body and neat touches that give it a notable stage presence, including distinctly tapered front and rear headlamps.
Mechanics: it's a Hyundai under the skin
If the aesthetics have a nostalgic flavour, the technology is a different story. From a mechanical point of view, the Vandervell - as already mentioned - was born in Germany, but has a Korean heart.
In fact, it is built on the same E-GMP platform as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and other electric models from the Hyundai-Kia group: a choice that, as we have been able to demonstrate in numerous tests, guarantees excellent performance, an interesting range and the possibility of ultra-fast charging and V2L technology.

Speaking of numbers, the Vandervell is currently available in three versions: the 325 PS H-GT, the 650 PS N-GT and the 650 PS N-GT Thin Wall special, all with four-wheel drive and the last one - lightened - weighing less than 2,000 kg. The latter, in particular, should be able to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.4 seconds, according to the manufacturer.
All of this, of course, is spiced up with the 'standard' features of this platform that we are now familiar with, such as the batteries positioned quite low in the platform, the 800V architecture and much more.

Pricing and availability
Production of the Vanwall Vandervell in all versions will be limited to just 500 examples, so it won't be a car for everyone and, as mentioned, the base price to take one home is €128,000 (excluding VAT).
