Watch The Driverless Rinspeed Budii in Action

The Rinspeed Budii was previewed a few months back and now we have a video and full details on the car. It will make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 12 days. Based on the BMW i3, the Budii is intended to show the future of autonomous electric cars. The interior features a movable robotic arm for a steering wheel that easily shifts from the traditional driver's side to the passenger side when occupants want to take turns at the wheel. It also tucks away a bit forward for those times when the car is in autonomous mode. It then does double duty as a table. A central display gives access to traditional infotainment features along with wireless charging docks and the ability to pay for parking through an NFC connection. The outside looks a lot like the BMW i3 but with the noticeable addition of a telescoping laser scanner that raises up from the roof. It's called TrackView and it provides a 3D map of the road ahead which is used to adjust suspension and ride height. There are also two mini-vehicles, think Segways, that sit in the back on automatic sliding drawers. RELATED: See Photos of the 2014 BMW i3
