Nissan Chops the Top on its 370Z Nismo

Until now, if you were looking to shop the Nissan lineup for a hardcore, sport-tuned convertible – you could climb only as high as the 370Z Roadster Touring Sport, good for 332 horsepower and a zippy jaunt on winding roads. Nissan's motorsports arm apparent didn't think that was good enough, so today the firm debuted a new headliner – the 370Z Nismo Roadster Concept. It looks to be less concept and more pre-production vehicle than anything, but Nissan says this one-off roadster could join the current Nismo performance lineup in the future. The concept tightens and tones the drop-top Z with the introduction of 18 more horsepower, bumping that figure up to an even 350hp (matching its hardtop sibling), thanks to engine tuning and a higher-flow exhaust system. A specially tuned suspension setup finds itself underneath the Nismo and brings with it 19-inch alloy wheels, sticky Potenza tires, a limited-slip differential and larger brakes. Nissan even says its aerodynamic body mods were inspired by its GT-R big brother. Inside, the concept features slick black-and-white Recaro leather seats, a seven-speed automatic gearbox, and the roadster's standard power-folding top. While the automatic transmission might not be everyone's flavor, the hardtop 370Z's manual would surely be an option if and most likely when the concept gets the production green light.
