Lucky Few Use Uber and Get Picked Up in a McLaren 650S
In many ways, the Uber app is changing the face of urban travel. With just a click, your own personal chauffeur will zip you anywhere you need to be, making it easier for users to ditch their cars altogether. While that might sound terrifying to today's car companies, McLaren Automotive liked the concept quite a lot ... for test drives. The British supercar manufacturer partnered with Uber in Dubai to allow a few lucky users the chance to ring up a brand new McLaren 650S, step into the driver's seat, and open up the taps of the 641-horsepower supercar. We're not sure if McLaren earned any new customers here, but we're betting these folks use Uber again very soon. RELATED: Check out the all-new 986 horsepower McLaren P1 GTR
Handing off the keys of a $270,000 McLaren to literally anybody sounds like a potentially ruinous decision, something that we're sure crossed the mind of co-driver and McLaren marketing manager Tom Pryor, more than once during his day of test drives.
Want to give it a go? Pryor says “being able to request a test drive at the push of a button from your phone is absolutely the future.” If so, you'll find us outside of McLaren HQ pressing our phones all day.
