Watch this Tesla P85D Give a Porsche 911 Turbo a Scare
Few would disagree: the Porsche 911 Turbo S is a very, very fast car. But how does it fare against Elon Musk's P85D all-electric sledgehammer? App developer Allen Wong wanted to find out, so he lined up his dual-motor P85D against the turbo'd Porsche, on what is now becoming a very notorious bit of highway. Speed ensues. Rather unsurprisingly, the 560 horsepower Porsche takes the crown, but not without having its doors blown off at the start by the lightning-fast Tesla. On paper, the Tesla is outmatched in the sprint to 60 mph (3.2 seconds to the Porsche's 2.9 seconds), however that's not really how it played out on the street. Take a look. The P85D screams ahead of the 911 by about four car lengths before being reeled in at the finish, a valiant showing for the four-door sedan. Wong notes the Porsche driver opted not to use launch control.
We get the idea that he doesn't like to lose, because after he was done drag racing his Tesla, he zipped home to grab his other daily driver – yes, a Lamborghini Aventador. Impressively, the 911 Turbo S can hang with the 691 horsepower Aventador for a stretch, but the Lamborghini has the legs on the Porsche by the time the pair cross the quarter-mile finish.
