Tesla Model X Caught Testing in the Open

Video has been posted showing the Tesla Model X being taken through its paces at Alameda Airport in Alameda, California. The heavily camouflaged vehicle does no heavy maneuvering  but does seem to indicate the EV SUV is that much closer to reality. The video shows clues that this is the Tesla X and not the talked about Tesla Model 3 that is designed to fight against the Chevy Volt. The high-seating position for the driver and overall shape seems to jibe with Elon Musk’s description of the Tesla X and pictures of the concept. So, Musk is working hard at maintaining interest in his SUV until he is ready to officially roll it out. And what better way to drum up interest than in a fairly public setting near a skate park? No super spy photography techniques were used as the credits of the YouTube video indicate it was shot with an iPhone 5. RELATED: What does a Tesla 'R' Model of the future look like?
As we reported previously, Tesla will offer the X with three different battery options: 60 kWh, 85 kWh, and 85 kWh Performance battery packs. However in the case of the Model X, power is driven to the ground exclusively through Tesla’s dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, as a rear-drive option is not available.
