The popular guess indicates a new Evora We're enthused, as we should be. But for a whole lot less, you could get behind the wheel of a classic, iconic, and actually very rare 1980 Lotus Esprit S2.2. This one is up for sale on eBay, appears to be remarkably clean, and comes in a color palate that looks perfectly presentable in 2015. Yes, the bidding fingers are getting itchy on this one. The new 2.2-liter Lotus four-cylinder stirred up 160 horsepower and a heftier 160 lb-ft of torque. Underneath, the S2.2's backbone adopted a galvanized steel construction. But that's not why it is remembered. It's remembered because Lotus produced a scant 88 Esprit S2.2 models, making this one rare bird indeed. Sure, it won't propel you through time and space quite like its punchy 1990s twin-turbo V8 counterpart, but it's quite a lot rarer and arguably better looking.
