McLaren 650S Le Mans Pays Homage to Iconic F1 GTR

Twenty years ago, McLaren brought home 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 13th in the 1995 24hrs of Le Mans. In other words, the company absolutely dominated the race. That was all thanks to the absolutely magnificent McLaren F1 GTR race cars. In order to celebrate that 20-year milestone, McLaren Special Operations has built an homage to those championship winning cars out of the already wonderful 650S. That means on top of the car there’s a fully functional roof air-duct that funnels the air into the unmolested 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8. There are also new front and rear wings to help keep the car planted. Over the front wheels are a set of louvers that help reduce pressure and increase downforce as well. Add a set of one-off vintage inspired wheels wearing Pirelli P-Zeros, and the outwards appearance is very reminiscent of the original car. And it should be, since McLaren brought back Peter Stevens — the original designer of the McLaren F1 — to help out with this special edition. Deliveries are set to start later this year. As for the price of your commemorative McLaren? $372,000. $320,500, with a total of 50 being built, and only nine of which coming to the U.S. But seeing as you’d have to spend around 40 times that to get a real McLaren F1 GTR, it's not all that unreasonable.
