More Polestar Volvo S60s and V60s Coming to the US

A few months ago, I found myself in the San Bernardino Mountains, seated behind the wheel of a very blue and very fast Volvo. It was the 2015 Volvo S60 Polestar, it muscled-up a potent 345 horsepower, and gripped like a tick. I liked it quite a lot, and you can read more about that here The Swedes produced a scant 750 versions for Volvo's global market, with only 40 S60 sedans and 80 V60 wagons destined for the US. Upon hearing that dishearteningly small number, I asked the Polestar crew (the guys responsible for this stunning race car), “why so few?” The answer I got was, “It's a test run, if it goes well, we'll build more.” RELATED: Check out more photos of the 2015 Volvo S60 Polestar Apparently everything did go well – so well in fact that Volvo will follow up its original Polestar allocation with another limited production run. This, according to a recent interview between Car and Driver and Volvo product planning executive Lex Kerssemakers. “It was my mistake. I limited it to just 750 cars,” notes Kerssemakers. “I didn't want those cars sitting around in case it doesn't work.” He continued, “but the cars sold out significantly faster. That's why we decided to do another batch.” An exact number of the special edition Polestars has yet to materialize, though we do now know that the second batch will consist of mechanically similar cars and will all be produced this year. And for the hardcore Volvo/Polestar fans, there's even better news. Kerssemakers confirmed that more Polestar models are in pipeline, and that Volvo's new Drive-E turbocharged four-cylinder power unit (previously given the nod at over 400 horsepower) could soon be part of the equation. Yes, more of that, please. RELATED: Check out Polestar's radical 250 horsepower Volvo C30 ________________________________________ Click Here to Read the Original Article on BoldRide
