Watch 900HP Trucks Get Sideways at Red Bull Frozen Rush
'Pro 4' short course trucks are built for one thing: bombing across rhythm bumps and launching over big kickers on courses in the American Southwest. And the 900 horsepower brutes are quite good at it. But Red Bull saw a challenge here, so they shipped nine of the best desert racers and trucks up to Newry, Maine, for a chilly showdown. Enter the Red Bull Frozen Rush. The teams lined up for some truly fantastic head-to-head racing, and at the end of the day Red Bull athlete Bryce Menzies was crowned champion, with motorsport icon Ricky Johnson taking the second step of the podium. There were a few close calls and a couple heart-pumping finishing dashes. Check out the top five moments from Frozen Rush, below. RELATED: Take a look at this futuristic Red Bull X2014 Racing Concept
One of the day's highlights came at the start of the competition when Carl Renezeder and Todd LeDuc threw everything they had against each other in the last-chance-qualifier round. The pair crossed the line with the closest finish of the event.
Spectators were in for a show during the third place run when veteran racers Scott Douglas and Rob MacCachren nearly collided. Douglas' truck hopped the snow barrier into MacCachren's lane, but that didn't stop Rob Mac from clinching his spot on the podium.
