Toyota Gets Down and Dirty With New GT86 Rally Car

Lightweight, rear-drive, and 200 horsepower. That’s the signature of the Toyobaru twins, which have been tearing up the streets since 2012. But how does that formula prove on the dirt? Not surprisingly, TMG (Toyota Motorsports Group) wanted to find out. Adding a few extra ponies to the standard GT86, the all-new CS-R3 rally car comes with 250 horsepower and a whole rally-ready makeover from top to bottom. They’re going on sale this year as a kit — though no word on price just yet — and they’re completely legal under FIA R3 regulations. It may not be as unwavering as some of its all-wheel drive competitors, but the drift happy GT86 looks like it can hold its own when you get on the gas. Watch the video below to see for yourself.
