Infiniti Q60 Concept Shows its Gorgeous Face Ahead of Detroit

The current Infiniti Q60 is a bit of an old bird, in fact, it used to be the Infiniti G Coupe. But don't expect that relation to linger much longer, because the automaker has a new Q car to take its place. This is not it.  Instead, this is the Infiniti Q60 Concept, a model said to preview that future car. And considering the aggressive lines and edgy styling, we can all hope that this 2+2 coupe is less “preview” and more of a sure thing. According to Infiniti, styling on the Q60 Concept was influenced heavily by two of the company's previous design triumphs – last year's Q80 Inspiration and the rip-snorting Q50 Eau Rouge. “The Q80 Inspiration was an indication of Infiniti's future design language,” mentioned Alfonso Albaisa, Infiniti design director. “The Q60 Concept is the next step in the journey.” RELATED: See More of the 2015 Infiniti Q60 Concept Powertrain specifics have yet to be revealed for the concept...much less the real production car...though considering the new Q60 is reported to share significant mechanical componentry with the Q50 sedan, a version of that car's 3.7-liter V6 seems a likely engine choice. Though an appearance from the Q50 Eau Rouge's 560 horsepower twin-turbo V6 would certainly be a welcome surprise. Riding low on 21-inch wheels and featuring Formula 1 inspired aerodynamics, the Q60 Concept should eventually adopt softer lines as it matures into a production model, and when it does, it will aim squarely at the likes of the BMW 4-series, Cadillac ATS, and new Lexus RC coupes. Stay tuned – the Q60 Concept gets its big day next Tuesday at the Detroit auto show.
