Watch Five Huge Airbus A350s Perform Stunt Formations
The past few months have signaled an important time for Airbus. The aircraft manufacturer recently certified its newest passenger jetliner, the sizable A350-900, and delivered its first customer version to Qatar Airlines a few days ago. Naturally, Airbus wanted to celebrate its momentous creation, so the firm took its fleet of five test aircraft and brought them airborne for a photo shoot and some stunning maneuvers. If you thought stunt planes in close formation was cool, wait ‘til you see five 212-foot wide airliners in close proximity. The formations begin at about 3:15 minutes. The A350 quintet completes a few low passes, a diamond formation, and gives the camera a send-off with a triumphant breakaway arrow maneuver. It’s safe to say the flight was extensively choreographed beforehand, but it’s a remarkable feat nonetheless.
On a side note, if you’re a racing fan at all, the names of the pilots interviewed earlier in the video – Bruno Sanna (close to ‘Senna’) and Fernando Alonso – ought to have piqued your interest.
