Production Ready Acura NSX Headed for Detroit, Finally
It seems like decades since we first saw the NSX concept. Actually, it’s almost been a decade. And in that time, the NSX has gone through what can only be described as development hell. Thankfully, after a whole host of teaser photos and spy shots, we’ve finally been granted our first official look at the new car … sort of. These first official images of the production-ready NSX come directly from Acura/Honda, and are bit dark. Nevertheless, seeing as the outward appearance of the car hasn’t changed throughout all those concepts, we’re certain it will look almost identical to the concept. Mercifully, according to the release, the production car will bow at the Detroit Auto Show next month. RELATED: See More Photos of the Acura NSX Concept
This is much earlier than we thought Acura/Honda would release the car due to the tumultuous year in development it’s had. At the Nürburgring this summer, the prototype had a Ferrari moment and self-immolated. Fortunately, the company had another car ready and brought it back to continue testing. Albeit with what looked to be a major revamp in cooling intakes.
We’re still not sure how this car will be greeted, especially due to the long development cycle. It’s been eight long years of hype and talk about how it will be a Ferrari 458 beater. We just hope we’re not let down by the final product.
