Watch a Koenigsegg Agera Race a Porsche 918 Spyder
It’s one thing to discuss which car would win on paper at the bar with friends. It’s a whole other ballpark when you get the chance to enact your fantasies in real life, just like these guys did with a Porsche 918 and Koenigsegg Agera R. The Agera R is one of the fastest street cars on the planet. It uses a twin-turbocharged V8 that puts out a whopping 1,140 horsepower. It’s body is made totally out of carbon fiber, giving it amazing structural rigidity, and that monstrous V8 pushes the 2,900lb carbon frame to 62 in just 2.8 seconds. Nevertheless, it’s going up against the latest and greatest new age hybrid hypercar, the Porsche 918 Spyder. The 918 uses a naturally aspirated V8 coupled with an electric motor to give the car and overall horsepower rating of 887 horsepower. But because it has all-wheel-drive, the 918 gets to 62 in just 2.5 seconds. That makes it slightly quicker than the Agera R.
It’s the classic tale of old(ish) technology vs. new, but really we're all winners for just being able to watch it go down. We already know that the Agera R will smoke a Veyron, but can it also beat Porsche's new technological accomplishment? Watch and find out.
