Watch Sacramento Kings' Rudy Gay Give His Challenger a UConn Makeover
It isn’t uncommon to see an NBA player fill his garage with six or seven-digit exotic rides. Sacramento Kings forward Rudy Gay plays by a different rulebook however. His latest custom car might be the coolest basketball whip we’ve seen in a while. During his summer training in Scottsdale, Arizona, Gay hooked up with Bleacher Report and took his 2013 Dodge Challenger SRT8 — which originally retailed for just south of $50,000 — to Arizona’s Pro Motorsports for an alma mater overhaul. The result is a slick UConn themed Challenger that even some of his teammates want to buy from him. RELATED: Take a closer look at the sinister Dodge Challenger SRT8
From the factory, the burly SRT8 comes fitted with 470 horsepower and all the go-fast looks a muscle car enthusiast could hope for, but Rudy needed more. So Pro Motorsports gave the Challenger a flat UConn Blue respray, Kicker audio system, rear wing, Huskies emblems and gas cap, as well as Gay’s signature logo in the dash.
Underneath, the SRT8 benefits from a new engine tune, high-flow exhaust, lowered ride height, and sits on fresh blacked-out wheels. Huskies fan or not, it’s a ride most of us would love to have...and one he's apt to hold onto.
