Buy Burt Reynolds' Personal Bandit Trans Am
Smokey and the Bandit made a black Pontiac Trans Am the hottest car on the planet during the film's heyday. Star Burt Reynolds took a liking to the car and made this one his daily driver and it's about to go up for auction. Reynolds drove a 1978 Pontiac Trans Am fully decked out in Bandit style. There are custom embroidered headrests with Reynolds' famous mug stitched into the leather in gold thread and even a CB radio so you can keep track of any Smokeys who might be hiding in the bushes ahead. The car also has Reynolds' personal license plates which read "Bandt22" just in case you had any doubts about this car's heritage. It's just one of 25 cars that will be going up for auction through Mecum Auctions this coming January.
All of the cars were part of a collection owned by Tim Wellborn and were on display at the Wellborn Muscle Car Museum in Alexander City, Alabama, until recently. He tried to pick some of the most unique cars in his collection to go up for auction and plans to use the money from the sales to buy new cars that will take their place at the museum.
