This Is The V8-Powered FR-S We've Been Waiting For
Here at BoldRide, we love the Toyobaru twins to pieces. But, like many that have driven them for a long period of time, we know that the car is underpowered. It could definitely use a boost. While Toyota and Subaru won’t build us the turbocharged car we all want (yet), a few aftermarket tuners have our back. This is what a Scion FR-S looks like with the Coyote Ford Racing V8. Unlike many other FR-S swaps which feature Toyota's 2JZ engine, this car opts for some good ol American muscle. While the 2JZ is a powerful engine, it is a tad old, and doesn't make quite the torque this Ford V8 does.
The crew that built this wonderful monstrosity are the same guys behind Fredric Aasbo’s Scion tC Formula D car. That little car is another wonder in and of itself, but this FR-S wasn’t built as a Formula D drift car. Rather, it still has all the creature comforts of the stock car, just with added horsepower.

The shop used a Boss 302 Crate motor directly from Ford Racing with the Aluminator XS package installed. That gives this car 500+ horsepower. Which in our opinion is the right amount for this platform.
Sure, you void your warranty, but who really cars when you get the engine out of a Boss 302? Although, they might need to modify the hood just a bit for the intake to fit?
