Lexus RC F Shooting Brake is Itching to be Built
Anyone who has gone from a coupe to a hatchback can attest to one thing – the added luggage space is obvious. However, for those expecting a certain level of performance, even the hottest of hatchbacks might not deliver. So what is the stuff-hauling sports car aficionado to do? For starters, buy a 2015 Lexus RC F, cut the back off, and add a rear hatch. Hungarian render artist X-Tomi Design applied their craft to create a new Lexus RC F shooting brake. And it might just be the best thing you’ll see today. RELATED: Take a closer look at the all-new 2015 Lexus RC F
By Lexus managements’ own words, the conservative Japanese automaker has in the past not gone far enough with daring vehicle design. Next year’s RC 350 and RC F look to rightly push that envelope. Add an accessible rear hatch to the current recipe of 5.0-liter V8, 467-horsepower, and rear-wheel-drive and you’ve got yourself quite the showstopper.
However, like many great automotive renders, it’s likely that this one will remain solely in the digital world. Unless there’s civil unrest outside of Lexus HQ amongst shooting brake fans.
But here’s a question – this, or the equivalent Porsche Panamera? A base model Panamera will run you $78,000 and for that you get about 150 less horsepower, four doors, and polarizing looks. Why not drop $62,000 on one of these?
