New Toyota Sports Car Could Have Hefty Price Tag
Toyota and BMW's joint venture sportscar is coming soon. Hopefully. But now have a few hard details on just what to expect when it arrives. The mid-size sports car will be based on the FT-1 concept and have a price tag to match. Car and Driver cites an inside source as saying that we should expect to see a car priced more than a base Corvette. That means getting your hands on this sports car will set you back over $54,995. It's a good bet that pricing that high will mean this sports car will boast somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 horsepower from maybe a turbocharged or possibly hybridized V6, but exact details are still under wraps. The car's name is also a mystery so we could get a new FT-1 or even a Supra, or we could be looking at a whole new moniker.
Though this sheds some light on the Toyota end of things, we still have no idea what to expect from BMW out of this partnership. Since they're priced higher in the first place, there's a chance the BMW could be priced even higher than the new Toyota and act as a replacement for the Z4. That higher price could also come with more power so the higher price tag would make sense.
