Watch The First Dodge Challenger Hellcat Come To Life
The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is quite simply insane. It is also the kind of insanity that most of us would love to own and you can get your hands on one for $59,995 unless it happened to be the very first one to roll off the line, in which case the price was a lot higher. Hellcat VIN number 0001 was recently sold at auction for $825,000 to Rick Hendrick of Hendrick Motorsports. Sure, that's a lot of cash, but to have a car like this it's not as crazy as it sounds, and the proceeds went to a good cause. PHOTOS: See More of the Insane 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat
The auction was held by Barrett-Jackson last month in Las Vegas with 100% of the proceeds going to Opportunity Village which is a charity that helps those with intellectual disabilities in the Las Vegas area. The Engelstad Family Foundation made a matching donation bringing the grand total to $1,650,00 going to charity.
Not only does Hendrick now have the privilege of calling the first Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat his own, he can also be certain that he'll never see anyone else in quite the same car. It's painted Stryker Red, a color reserved for the Viper, so this truly is a one-of-a-kind collectible. Watch this car roll off the line to the dulcet tones of Mötley Crüe. What, you were expecting Beethoven?
