Former Reality Star Loses Toes in Motorcycle Crash, But That Doesn't Stop Him
Reality TV star Duff Goldman from Ace of Cakes may have lost his toes, but he hasn’t lost his enthusiasm for riding a motorcycle. Goldman told US Weekly that despite losing his toes in a 2012 motorcycle crash, he can’t stop riding. “It didn't scare me,” he told US Weekly. “It just made me make the choice—more consciously to say, ‘I'm doing something that is very dangerous, but it’s something I love.’” Duffman also told the periodical, riding bikes has been so deeply "ingrained in my heart and soul" that the alternative would work against his well-being. "There was about an eight-month period where I didn’t ride bikes. I was driving a truck, and every time I would see a bike go by… and I was like, 'I can’t do it anymore.'" He went on to add, “I have to make peace with myself—that on my way to work, I’m really close to death. Whereas most people, on their way to work, are just worried about work. It made me choose. I was like, ‘Okay, am I going to ride bikes, or am I not going to ride bikes?’”
There’s more about his love of riding and his work with the Make-A-Wish foundation. But mainly the takeaway is that like so many other motorcyclists, the reward outweighs the risk for Goldman. Thinking about every rider I’ve ever met, that sounds about right.
