2014 Paris Motor Show’s 6 Boldest Reveals
Adieu, Paris Motor Show. Last week marked another showing of Paris’ famed bi-annual automotive nirvana, and with it, another host of new cars for our viewing pleasure. While it seemed like nearly every automaker showed up, there were a few new cars that really grabbed our attention (click the links to learn more). Infiniti Q80
Infiniti’s big, bold flagship sedan is here. At least, in concept form. The Q80 concept dropped the mic in Paris, showing the rest of the world just how beautiful a big luxo barg could be. It’s going to make its way to production, but we highly doubt it’s going to look as good as it did on the show floor.
Personally, I hate this thing. It’s a 900-horsepower example of everything wrong with VW Group. But it is still a concept, and it is Lamborghini’s first toe-dipping into the pool of hybrid supercars, so it’s not all bad. It just needs to be refined before being produced.
Nissan Pulsar Nismo Concept
Hot hatchbacks make the world go round. And Nissan’s latest creation could make the hot hatch world just that much hotter. It’s a Pulsar, given the Nismo treatment, and pushing out 250 horsepower. I’ll take seven, please.
Volkswagen XL Sport
Where VW Group failed with the Asterion, it totally made up for it with this thing. VW took its XL hybrid, took out all the hybrid bits, and replaced it with the engine from a Ducati. Why has no one thought of this sooner?
Ferrari 458 Speciale A
What’s more Speciale than a Ferrari 458 Speciale? The Ferrari 458 Speciale A, obviously. It’s a topless version of Ferrari’s most hardcore 458, and where it lacks in rooflessness, it makes up for with 597 horsepower.
Mercedes managed to give the world a sneak peak of its new AMG GT before the doors opened at Paris, but that didn’t make its live reveal any less spectacular. 503 horsepower and looks that kill— yeah, this thing is going to be pretty special.
