Chevy Corvette Sales Still Dominate Despite Slow Month
In September, the 2015 Corvette posted its third worst sales numbers so far. That being said, Chevy still managed to move 2,467 Stingrays off the lot. That's absolutely killing it when you look at the competition. Take Porsche, for example. They sold 739 units of the 911 - putting that way behind the Corvette. Hammering home the point home even further, the Corvette pretty much beat down the whole Porsche brand. They sold 520 units of the Boxster and Cayman, 739 of the 911 and 918, and 450 Panameras for a total of 1,709 units. That means the Corvette outsold all Porsche cars combined, excluding SUVs. It wasn't just Porsche that got trounced by the Chevy Corvette, though. The Dodge Viper had a record sales month posting a 140% gain over the same month last year but that only amounts to 108 units going out the door. That means that Chevy sold almost 23 times the number of Corvettes as the Dodge Viper.
Making this feat even more impressive are the obstacles that the Corvette has recently faced. There was a stop-sale issued over problems with the driver's side airbag along with legal issues surrounding the Valet Mode of its Performance Data Recorder. These were likely factors in what turned out to be a slow month for the 'Vette, but it's still sitting happily at the top of the performance car heap.
